But those Halloween candies come with a downside, and that's why we're offering a candy buyback program for Halloween 2019. This year we will be I am buying wrapped candy from kids $1/lb during office hours, Monday Nov 04-Fri Nov 08, 2019 and sent to Operation Shoebox who will make care packages for our military troops serving overseas.

Protect Your Teeth & Bring Us Your Candy This Halloween

First, let's be clear: we're not trying to ruin all the fun. Everyone deserves to enjoy now and again, and Halloween is a fun opportunity for kids to dig into a mountain of candy that doesn't come at any other time of year. In moderation, that's totally ok – but that candy also comes with drawbacks. 

Candy is full of sugar, and when you eat candy, naturally-occuring bacteria digest that sugar and break it down into acids. These acids stick to the teeth and eat away at them, corroding and weakening tooth enamel. Without treatment, this process can cause tooth sensitivity, cavities, and dental decay. 

So how can you protect yourself from dental problems on Halloween? For starters, limit the frequency of times you consume candy: each time you eat a piece, you're exposing your teeth to sugar and acids again, so the less this happens the better. Also make sure to brush and floss your teeth after eating candy to flush out acids and mitigate the damage. And finally, don't feel like you have to finish your Halloween candy. Take Halloween night to enjoy it and dig in, then bring the rest to our office for your next dental check-up. We'll give trick-or-treaters $1 for every pound of candy they bring in, and we'll donate all candy received to Operation Gratitude, a non-profit that works with volunteers to send care packages to our troops overseas.
